Stand

One folded sheet of aluminium that lifts the screen and hides the keyboard. No screws, nothing to assemble. Its small brother, a ruler, does the same for laptops.

Design, prototyping, production
Stand under a screen, the keyboard slid in beneath it
Stand in real life: an iMac on it, on a white desk in front of a peeling blue wall

Problem

Back then the iMac, like most screens, had a fixed height. So we leaned in to it, or stacked books underneath.

BeforeFixed-height screen: the head drops to meet it.
A laptop on a bag, a laptop and a screen propped up on books

Solution

One folded sheet. The shelf lifts the screen to eye level, the ramp below holds the keyboard, and a hole in the back takes the cable.

With StandStand lifts the screen: the back stays straight.
Black stand from the side: one sheet, folded into shelf, wall and ramp
Close-up of the folded edges in black, white and silver
Stand from the front, with the cable hole in its back wall
Keyboard resting on the ramp, close up

Packaging

A kraft box in a black sleeve, folded like the stand inside it.

The box, closed: kraft card wrapped in a black sleeve folded like the stand
The box, open: black inside, the stand resting in it
Box label: Open to stand up right, with the stand drawn flat and folded

Ruler stand

The small brother, for laptops. Rubber at both ends keeps it still on a smooth desk.

Stand and ruler, together

One for the screen, one for the laptop.

Sitting exercise: sit upright with your hands behind your head, bring one elbow down, then the other. Ten times, or as many as feel good.
